All carpet tiles would be installed on a tackifier (a released adhesive) so any damaged tiles can be replaced with minimal fuss.
Vinyl sheet, Tiles and LVT’s would be installed using a permanent adhesive. Adhesive will be selected based on the most appropriate for the area and conditions e.g.
Areas subject to temperature changes such as kitchens or areas with a lot of natural light would be installed on a heat-sensitive adhesive to stop any movement in the material and a continual high bond. Normal areas would be laid on a pressure-sensitive adhesive that dries to a permanently tacky film to give initial strong tack and continual high bond.
Linoleum and rubber would be installed on manufacturer-recommended adhesives which depends on what areas and materials are being used.
All areas where impervious sheets and tiles are to be installed the solid subfloor must be below 75%RH (relative humidity). These tests can be carried out by ourselves or if needed a representative from our suppliers can carry out a site survey and issue a specification with their recommendations of how to proceed. This would include all floor preparation, correct adhesives and correct site conditions for the best outcome.
All areas where water is present would need to have a slip resistance vinyl with an anti-slip rating of at least R10.
Shower areas would need suitable vinyl flooring that is designed for barefoot traffic and an anti-slip rating of R11.
All Nosings fitted must have at least a 30 point difference in colour between the floor covering and the nosing infill for partially sited people (Light reflectance value – LRV).
New trends at the moment seem to be loose lay or click flooring in an LVT style.
These can save on time of the installation and in certain areas may save on floor preparation as long as the subfloor is smooth and free from contaminants.
They also help if a client is moving into a new office on a small lease or ones with a dilapidation clause built into the lease as they don’t require much uplift and there is relatively no damage to the subfloor and if taken up carefully may be used again. Depending on wear condition.
