Proper subfloor preparation is critical to achieving a high-quality, long-lasting floor covering. At Partridge Interiors Ltd, we have extensive experience in preparing both timber and solid subfloors, ensuring a perfect foundation for you whether it is carpet tiles, vinyl, rubber, linoleum, laminate or engineered floor boards.
Carpet Tiles
Carpet tiles are available in a wide range of materials, textures and colours allowing you to customise your flooring to match your decor and functional needs. Nylon known for its durability and resilience is ideal for high-traffic areas. Polypropylene tiles are resistant to moisture and stains, making them suitable for areas prone to spills or humidity. Wool carpet tiles offer a luxurious feel and excellent insulation properties, though they require more maintenance than synthetic options. Many manufacturers offer eco-friendly carpet tiles made from recycled materials, supporting sustainability initiatives. Carpet tiles are available in both plank and tile formats, offering versatile design options to suit various spaces. They are easy to maintain, flexible, and can be cost effective. Benefits include:
Vinyl and luxury vinyl tile (LVT)
Sheet safety vinyl is commonly used for washrooms, toilets and commercial catering areas and serveries due to their non-slip properties. It is hardwearing, durable and easy to clean offering a hygienic solution, often fitted to form a coved skirting.
LVT is mainly used for creating an aesthetically pleasing look, whilst maintaining durability for high traffic areas.
They are installed using a permanent adhesive. Adhesive will be selected based on the most appropriate for the area and conditions e.g. areas subject to temperature changes such as kitchens or areas with a lot of natural light would be installed on a heat-sensitive adhesive to stop any movement in the material and a continual high bond. Normal areas would be laid on a pressure-sensitive adhesive that dries to a permanently tacky film to give initial strong tack and continual high bond.
Rubber and Linoleum
Often used for factories, workshops, and entrance lobbies to create hardwearing, low fatigue areas.
Entrance Matting
This is a flooring used in a building entrance to help prevent debris and wetness being trapsed inside.
Nosing for Stairs and Steps
Both Aluminium and PVC can be used with both carpet tiles and vinyl flooring and can enhance safety and aesthetics.
Current trends favour loose lay or click flooring in an LVT style. These options save installation time and may reduce floor preparation needs if the subfloor is smooth and contaminant-free. They are also advantageous for clients with short-term leases or dilapidation clauses, as they cause minimal subfloor damage and can be reused if carefully removed, depending on wear condition.
